Slow design: ecology, sustainability, Technistone®

Recently, the title “slow fashion” is used more often. You certainly have read about this phenomenon somewhere. Fashion that is quality, timeless and lasts you longer than one season, is getting into the trend. Why is it really important? It’s about protecting our planet. The production of huge quantities of goods, which fall out of the fashion or wear out in a year, also generates much waste. In the production of “fast-paced fashion”, workers often do not have a fair wage, there is pressure for a very low price. Which, of course, suffers from quality. The result is the production of a huge amount of goods that will soon end up in waste, making more and more, and so over and over again.

Slow design (slow interior design) uses the same system and can be purchased to be timeless and not subject to trends. The product should be made in good quality and should last for a long time. It is also important for the product to be produced ethically and responsibly to the environment and the workers were fairly rewarded and the cost to the consumer was fair. Slow design is also worthwhile from a financial point of view. While it may be that the initial investment in a quality timeless piece of equipment is higher. But you do not have to buy a new kitchen table for five years because you have scratched the original or otherwise damaged it. Slow design is a relatively new concept so far, and maybe you just can not find a manufacturer who would label his products with a logo or brand that would say that such a product is gentle and sustainable. So you have to search for yourself and think. It is really important to look for timeliness and quality. Asking if the product is made from local sources, does the company reduce the transport costs? Recycle?

The goal of ecological focus at the Technistone plant is to improve working conditions and the environment while meeting the legislative requirements for air and environmental protection. That’s why the company invests millions of crowns annually in the ecology and recycling of materials at the main plant in Hradec Kralove. TechniStone products meet stringent European and American standards, are declared with several “green certificates”, more than a third of the product portfolio uses recycled raw materials. The proportion of recycled components in the range of 20-70% is mainly in the form of recycled glass and mirror shards. Technistone makes maximum use of raw materials from local sources to reduce negative transport impacts on nature. 100% of the substances to be separated are recycled in Technistone with zero waste. Subsequently, 70% of the solvents and 50% of the oils are recycled. Remnants are carefully sorted, tracked, classified and handed over to specialty companies. The company, by building its own distribution depots, helps to reduce even much-discussed truck and shipping. Technistone is fully aware of the growing number of people for whom it is important for their employer or supplier to behave responsibly. Responsible behavior therefore accepts for itself and tries to motivate.

Take a look at where the product comes from, how it was made and how long it will last. Do not be afraid to ask.
